Do research on yahoo auto. They will have all the info., then when you narrow it down to a few that fit your needs (Mileage, warranty, price), go out and test drive them. Take your time when you go. The next time you drive to school/work, whatever your daily routine is, pay attention to what you do in the car. Then when you go and test drive cars, try to replicate the same motions. See if it's comftorable. Can you see out well? Does sit have enough room? Take your time, don't let anyone rush you because you are the one that will be in the car for sometime. Good Luck!

Fuel efficient AND reliable: small Japanese models.
Reliable 4WD: Subaru Forrester.
Fast AND fuel efficient: Lotus Elise.
AWD is the same as 4WD.
If you only need to drive small milage a day, you can easily use an electrical car. No fuel burning car comes close compared with an electrical car, where it concernes low energy costs. BTW, a few companies can convert most normal cars to electrical cars.
