do peyote, shrooms, or silvia divinorum have any lasting brain problems,or will most people go back to normal?

my friend is trying these drugs which is pathetic and useless, but i need to know this answer, please be educated in some kind of way about this (e.g. experience, education in botany or other science/ medical fields)

All three of these drugs have a long history of medicinal/spiritual uses among native people where these things grow. Its highly unlikely these drugs would have developed a place in social rituals if they caused problems. But with any drug, the risks increase with dosage and frequency of use, and not everyone responds the same way or has the same tolerance. Its also a safe bet that cultures that used these drugs didn't use them as frequently or at as high a dosage as people who use them for recreation.

I have used or been with people who have used all of these drugs - some frequently. The usual side effects of these drugs that I saw were short-term problems with sleep, dry mouth, and fatigue for a day or two later. I think the greatest danger is that with any of these three drugs, a person can get so detached from reality that there is literally no limit to what they might try. A person under the influence can be a real danger to themselves or others, and you can't really predict when that might happen. There were a few episodes where friends became paranoid to the point of being scary, and once on a camping trip, it took 4 people to keep a person from jumping off a cliff - had to stay up all night and keep him restrained.

All but one of these friends have grown up to become good parents with successful careers - doctors, engineer,college professor, a CEO, and one has a prominent place in government. So at least with this bunch, no lasting negative effects. The one exception is a person who slid into alcoholism, and lives only for the next drink - probably not related to these drugs..
