I always said I would never get a tattoo, but lately I've been getting the urge to get a ribbon or something with Jesus' name on it over my heart. Really bizarre. Opinions?

The “tattoo” marks described in Leviticus 19:28 were clearly related to false religious practices. The word translated tattoo in our English Bibles is the Hebrew word “qa aqa”, this word appears only one time in the Bible, here in this passage Leviticus. The word “qa aqa” means literally “to cut” but taken with the surrounding words indicates a cutting that left a mark imprinted in the skin. This could have been a form of branding, scarring, cutting or a process where ink was inlaid into the skin; there is not enough data to fully define exactly what this word meant. However we translate the word “qa aqa” though, in this passage, it is certainly used in the context of cultic religious worship. The prohibition against “qa aqa”, (translated tattoo) was to keep the Israelites from being involved or affiliated with cultic worship practices.
The tattoo of today is much different than it was for those who originally received the Pentateuch. Today tattoo is a decorative means of self expression and personal decoration. In our current culture people modify their appearance for beauty in many ways such as clothing choice, makeup, plastic surgery, haircutting and coloring, weight loss, body-building, and ear piercing. Some of these practices have a history in ancient ritual and false religion, but in our cultural context they do not denote a connection with evil or false faith. In the same way tattoos today do not link the wearer to cultic worship practices and is not generally practiced for ancient religious purposes, tattoos today are for ornamentation.

An meeting is a amassing of like-minded folks who would possibly or would possibly not recognise one a further for a cause... similar to worship, amusement, deliberation, and many others. Fellowship is extra approximately neighborhood and friendship. A church amassing has factors of each, however isn't required for both one. A man or woman could have fellowship with simply an extra man or woman. There is an meeting of Christians right here on R&S and their fellowship is of their ideals, even though they're exceptional from one a further, and that is without doubt no longer a church. The identical may also be stated of different agencies and ideals, which is likely one of the factors all of us come right here. Local church buildings simplest must do what God has commanded folks... to like Him and one a further. This is dependent upon each and every character member and it determines the fellowship inside the meeting, be it well or dangerous. Being human, there'll regularly be the ones amongst us who're extra self established and self serving (Pharisees)... be they chief or layman. Love is the purpose and cause of our lifestyles. It demands to be the hallmark of our church buildings. Those who've no longer discovered this have got to patiently gain knowledge of. If the church and it is individuals don't adhere to this so much elementary guiding principle of the religion, then it can be great to seem for a further church. We do must be conscious if our possess reasons; if love is guiding our movements as good, no longer selfishness or emotion.

I guess it would depend on why you said you'd never get a tattoo in the first place.
If it's an urge though, I'd probably wait or don't do it. I'm sure God and Jesus have nothing against tattoos, but you wouldn't want to treat someone you care about's name as an "urge".
Also, forget all that talk about it defiling your body. With the kinds of things we consume and the lack of exercising we do, we'd all be guilty of defiling our bodies.

Think about where your heart is and who would be giving you the tattoo. It may be kind of awkward. I think most tattoos are not cool, but some of them that have meaning are nice, I mean more than because it's pretty. I've seen tattoos that were very special with a lot of thought behind them. Why put something on your skin permanetly if it has no meaning.
I think Jesus on your heart is a nice gesture....Jesus is in your heart?, but maybe on you're arm or somewhere else would be better

I share your wishes for a tattoo, but I never did and I am ok with it. I have also seen many old people with tattoos, but they mostly look silly and sad.
Then I think of your location for your tattoo. Being married I have a hard enough time with Doctors looking at my wifes nether regions. They are mine and I do not share them willingly. Your future husband will agree with me on this.

No. Not oer your heart. That would mean you would have to reveal most of yourself to someone and that causes a brother to stumble, more than likely. Probably not a good idea to put ithere. I don't kow bout the whole tatoo/temple of the Lord sort of deal. that's iffy, but idk either way so ya. hope this helps!
