In Italian, it is very close to the word for "Saturday"--Sabato. If it's Arabic, it may mean Sabath. In any case, the "a" at the end would most likely make it a feminine name. Although, some Italians (of which I am one), have a perplexing habit of assigning names that end in "a" to males. For example: Andrea Bocelli.

By the way, I like what you have on your profile page.
