When Abu Baqr and Omar or Umar perpetrated the killings, perhaps, it was a vendetta for succession and not a general war by each against the other. But what is now happening in Iraq and what is going to happen during days to come, it might as well as predicted by the Prophet Muhammad about his own followers.
Yes. It is mentioned that their end will come and they will be rescued by a Christian. It will be the greatest irony of history, if it happens.

Umar was not a muslim when he was sent to kill the muslims.. then he somehow became a muslim.. i knew the story.. forgot.. after he became a muslim he killed no muslim ever.
