Both my parents passed away many years ago and I dont have their passports or their birth certificates to prove that I am of indian Origin. I know the village my dad was born but the registry there dont have proper records of births. How else can I apply for a PIO visa?

you can file an affadavit.

O dear!! you have no identity?? hmm...I think you can make your own birth certificate from where you were born.

BTW, your face/looks will tell others that you are an Indian. No need to prove that you are from Indian subcontinent...

get DNA test done of your:
yourself
grandparents
meternal/peternal uncles/aunts
(blood relatives)

ALSO:
get all of them (grandparents,meternal/peternal uncles/aunts)
to serve as a witness along your affidavit(accompanied by DNA polygraph report)

submit attested copies of affidavit in passport office/immigration authority india, and apply for a PIO certificate with another attested copy of the affidavit

appoint lawer for those affidavit (they will charge between 500 - 1500 Rs)

get adopted by another indian family, or a relative, and show their certificates
