Gravtol and Phyliss, what will be will be . No two sides can be right when it comes to conflict, but i strive for good . God works in mysterious ways. Look beyond the scripture, for that was written by men of days gone past> We fight for now and the future. God Bless

happylife: nobody needs to serve the devil -whoever he is, but too many profess christianity, only to hide behind and commit sin. I love my god -probably yours - but i love him in my way - as for Satan, i reckon he's misundersttod, after all, he was only doing his job -until he was sacked. Only the Catholic church - at its most decadent - made human minds turn against him. Which Devil, was Christ really against, i wonder?

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Orginally there was only one mind set and that was the mind of Christ. We were all to be God like in spirit. The other mindset came with Lucifer, yes the angel of light when he though he had a better idea. Better or not is not the problem. The problem is that there is now a choice between dark and light. That part was not a part of the plan. Even though Lucifer was an angel of light and his name means deliverer of light, the mere fact that he offered an alternative to what was originally the plan of God, he became less then the light he was created from. Man is to operate in the mind of Christ and to have the Spirit of God alive and well in the inner most part of his being, as a place of reflectiion of Himself. After the first man and woman were deceived into thinking another way, it created the mindset that was different then Gods. Some would say if God is all knowing then He would have already known that satan was going to deceive his people. Well maybe he did and He was also smart enough to use the devil in his own deceit. He does use darkness to drive people into the light when they are lost. He does not create the darkness he uses it. The only reason that works is because God designed his creation to be in light. The devil can disquise himself as an angel of light too because he too came from that light. God just gives him and us enough rope to hang outselves. When we are at that place where we are out of resources He reaches out to us and offers us a savior in the person of His only begotten Son, Jesus the Christ. Lucifer has really sealed his future in a lost reality, but God lets him continue for a purpose. That is to complete the prophecy and to give man a choice of free will. Either to serve God as intended or to serve satan for a very tempory "false joy ride."

devil or god or any icon in any religion should not be feared or praised in any religion, religion is the real fear to all as religion is only a word without true meaning, given that religion was non existent from what we are meant to believe in, no one really believed in Santa till few centuries ago yet 2000 years from now people will still talk/read/add bits on takes bits away about made up persons, I don't like the truth nor believe in lies,

My good friend, no one who knows the power of the most high God, can fear the devil, people fear the devil only when the are no longer in good relationship with God, then then become afraid of the devil because he may torment them,
if you are a christian i want you to know that the bible says that HE THAT IS IN YOU IS GREATER THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.

wow

I wonder how many people get the historical irony with this question and your name.

The very fact that the Leviathan was seen in early Semitic culture as an evil force (of water) that battled Baal the god of the sky.

This has spilled over into references between G-d of the Bible and the Leviathan seen as a sea creature that will be killed at the end of days.

Thanks for the laugh

I wouldn't fear the Devil because the devil is said to be another created being. Humour, however helps:
If you do not believe in Jesus, the one with the Crown...
You die and go to hell, to be roasted by the one way under the ground!

Everyone has Fear, ! and i guarantee IT. if the devil wanted you to be afraid, you would be very afraid. for it is written God did not spare Even his own son. and personally, when the fear descended on me i was so naive as to how much power and influence these bastards have on earth with human beings.

Why fear an instrument created by man? The only fear anyone should have is of the hate and evil that so many religions have put in this world.

You should really fear GOD. He is the Creator. He is greater than Satan. Satan is not omnipotent, omnipresent, or omniscient. Satan sends out his forces of demons to wreak havoc in our lives. Now, if that is what you like, then go for it. But, I would say, if you don't want evil as the foundation of your life, you should fear God because he is the only one who can deliver you or for that matter protect you from this beast of pain and strife. "He (God) who is in me is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world."
