Suppose the stars line up in the sky tommorow and spell out, "I am god and I created everything."
What would it matter?
Really?
If we discover there is a god, or prove there isn't, how is life going to change? If there is a god, we know it ignores our plight here on earth. Unless we can directly question it, and ask it questions about life, death, religion, our origins, it's origins, good, evil, etc, we are in the exact same boat, except we'd know we weren't alone in the universe.
In a few months, our lives and our world would go on pretty much as they do now, except you'd have a lot more frightened people joining all the competing religions, which would probably claim even MORE adamantly that the message was from THEIR god.
And the atheists would claim it was the work of aliens, or some insane random interstellar event.

But there is proof of God! The problem is no one believes because they are too busy trying to prove Him. He's already proven just by the way this world is created and everything in it. Everything that is made has a creator and it comes with a manual. Cars, telephones, computers, etc were all created by man and man made a manual to go along with his creation. Since we are made in God's image why is it a far stretch to believe that God created the sky, sea, land, animals, humans and everything in the natural world and gave us a manual (The Bible) on how to operate in it? But you still won't believe because you need proof. That is sad because the truth is just because you don't have faith and believe something is true doesn't mean that it won't have a terrible consequence when you act contrary to that truth. Think about all the people who don't believe that they'll get hooked on drugs the first time they try it but end up near dead or in a loony bin at some point in their lives. Unbelief is a killer both physically and spiritually. I'd rather believe in God whether I'm made fun of or ostracized so that I may face God with a clean heart and right relationship through Jesus Christ in the day I take my last breath than not believe anything and live a miserable hate filled life like many unbelievers do.

If God contacted humanity he wouldn't do it by lining up the stars in a message like that and then sitting back and seeing what happens. Everyone will fall in line, and wait to see what he says about which religion is the right one.
Everyone finds out being a good person means more than picking the right religion. We all find out why the world is the way it is. Then we all forget what happened so we can live in the dream again.

now this question i like and yes i have to agree with the point ytopu have made even if the existence of god was proven/disproven it would certainly not stop all this stupid bickering between different beliefs . I think its something in human nature , I once heard a statement that went if we were all the same colour people would hate each other based on eyye colour or height maybe humans just like to argue and try and prove themselves superior to each other great point though

Maybe some atheists would become agnostic but that is pretty much the way things were until the Age of Enlightenment. The question before that was not "Is there a god?" but rather "Who is god?" or "Which god is the true god?"

If it's really God he's not going to do it like that. He'll come down like he used to do in the bible. Many religions will sh-t in their pants because he will be asked which is the true religion. And, we are going to get rid of a lot of lemons. The last ones wanting God to come down are the religions.

that's significant to understand numerous differences related to theistic perspectives on evolution. First, extensive numbers of theists are happy to settle for evolution because of fact the in all probability technique with the help of which God stepped forward myriad species and varieties of life on earth. Smaller numbers are pleased with billions of years for the universe to evolve, such as our planet, and for all times to progressively strengthen on earth, yet they safeguard God set particular barriers for all times, previous which it ought to no longer bypass. and that they say that God promptly created guy and female. They in no way stepped forward from ape-like creatures. God created mankind in his photograph. yet another proportion refuse to settle for billions of years and that they say God created each thing interior six literal days. they're people who won't settle for the evolution of something. the only connection between God and disproving evolution as an entire, or especially regards, is to do with the Genesis account of introduction. of direction no argument against evolution proves God exists! No creationist is asserting it provides as much as info of God. they're asserting that the way we hit upon the universe and our planet harmonises with the Genesis account of God coming up the heavens and the earth. it would look, besides the shown fact that, that loads of evolutionists think of that in the event that they amass sufficient info for evolution, which will a technique or the different disprove God's life.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have my ***** fix me a sandwich, and she'd better not find the face of the virgin Mary in the mayo this time.

I would grab some popcorn and watch the blood bath. Every time God ( or lack of ) has cause a major intervention, thousands of people die, because we can't behave ourselves.
