I used to be in the military and I understand how lying works. If it's the kind of lying that a recruiter gives the OK sign on, nothing bad will happen to you. But, if you lie about something big like being bipolar and then if it becomes an issue and they find out, you will get an Other Then Honorable (OTH) discharge. If you say you were never diagnosed and never really knew you had it, then they will just let you go with an Honorable discharge.
Also remember the first day you go to boot camp, they're going to put you in a room with the "nice cop" (everyone else you meet in boot camp is the bad cop). The nice guy will say this is you're one and only time to admit to us anything you haven't been honest about and not get in trouble over. Don't right anything down, regardless of what he says, cuase if you do and they don't like the truth you will be in trouble for it.

You can lie but if you require or depend on any medication to control your moods you have to stop taking it when you go to basic training and AIT. Secondly, as another answer mentioned, you aren't going to get a medical waiver for this, it will not be granted. If you choose to research it Google AR 40-501. This is the medical regulation that list disqualifiers for Army Enlistment, look in chapter two.
Next, another answer mentioned putting the lives of others at risk and this too is a possibility.
What about your health, have you thought about the consequences with your actions if you would lie, how would you be affected and is it worth it.
Last but not least, did a qualified medical professional tell you were Bi-polar, if so how long ago, do you take meds, have you ever taken meds, are you off meds now and if so how long have you been off. These are all viable questions that could possibly determine if you are really qualified or disqualified.

Silly boy, don't ever think of lying to the Military which is owned by the Government. You will be fined & serve serious time in JAIL. Trust me, you do not want to f*ck with The Government, especially the Military. With how the law is now these days & the on going war in Iraq. You will not get away with it.

Besides, you can't lie about your sickness or any disease you have. You need to pass series of blood test before they let you in the Military. You being Bipolar........you have no chance! hypothetically speaking you got in? Your Bipolar will get worse!

Sorry!
try getting a job at McDonald's or somethin'

Why would you want to start a career by lying? Does your bipolar condition keep you from realizing the value of honesty?

Would you want to be in a situation where your life depended on a bipolar liar?

If you want to serve your country, there are other ways do so even with your condition.

If joining the military is for personal gain only, shame on you!

Do the right thing!

You could probably get in with-out lying the military is so short personal at the moment, you could most likely get what they call a waiver, as long as you can prove that it can be treated with medication and you can still be productive. yes you can lie, im not gonna tell you to do it though, but none of their physicals will catch it. They will tell you if you lie you will get fined, if they find out most likely you will get medically discharged if they did though. Talk to a recruiter they will tell you your best course of action. I am in the military and no plenty of people with medical, criminal problems that technically make them ineligible to join, but have obtained waivers for this. Its worth a shot and good luck, but i would be honest with the recruiter they will tell you if you can or can not do it, then its up to.

Hiya Biopolar is a serious condition do not lie about it as it may be used for reason as a discharge which will make you worse. You are obviously in control and i assume taking meds discuss with the recruiting officer as there are loads of opportunities within the armed forces and by being honest they may be more open good luck xx

Sure. Most of us do lie in the interview. The entry standards can be a little rediculous at times so just keep your mouth shut drive on. and I dont know hoe the hell that girl thinks bi polar disorder is blood related. Kind of negates the validity of anything she says

If you don't have medical records of it.

There was this one guy who murdered his business partner, took his identity and joined the military! No one found out until basic training! Weird huh!
