In my country it is perfectly legal, even without parental consent, to marry at 16 (though most don't - they just live together). Furthermore, it would not be so remarkable to find an age gap like this - for those caught in the poverty trap, it often seems to be the case that they will pool resources for better housing , benefits etc. |

To be honest, I can find nothing appealing in a 16 year old boy but then, I have a son not much older than that so I am looking from a different vantage point. I think we should stop being so quick to criticise other people's lifestyles and choices!

Technically I don't think it would be legal because the guy is not yet 18. That's kinda weird... he must be pretty mature for a 16 year old if a 24 year old is willing to date and even get engaged to him!

8 years isn't much difference later on in your life but at this point it is. Some people at 16 still haven't matured physically and mentally. But say if it's like a 20 year old and a 28 year old, I don't think it's too weird.

I don't think it is legal (age wise) but it depends on where you live. I guess it is considered worse if the ages where reversed(Guy being 24 and girl being 16)

No,it's not legal b/c if he's not 18 years old he can't be with someone who is older than 18. I don't know why you asked this question but I hope this is a good answer.
