After all, if I know someone is all gung-ho about the war in Iraq, I have the decency not to send them anti-war emails, and if I know someone doesn't celebrate my holiday, I don't send them religious emails--but I seem to get a lot of them.

What is a nice way to say 'no thanks'?

Or... should I just press the delete button?

You won't get best answer by slandering other peoples' beliefs in here--I left my own personal opinions out of this for the most part to avoid that stuff! Thanks!

Hi Tara, I think you already know the answer. You seem like a very sweet lady. You obviously care about your friends feelings or you wouldn't be seeking advise. Sweetie, there is nothing wrong with asking someone to please not send that kind of material to you. Just explain to them that you aren't comfortable talking about political issues. We all have our opinions. And we will always find someone that has an opinion that is way , way different than ours. So , I would try doing it the nice way. And sweetie , if that doesn't work .....DELETE DELETE DELETE......Good luck Tara.

I feel the same way, I receive all sorts of e-mails from people and I always think to myself how on Earth they have the insensitivity to send those out without knowing what the recipients feelings are on certain issues. Sometimes people just forward indiscriminately. They don't think before they click. On this answer board we have an example of how a person did not think before they typed, they assumed that it was acceptable to make a political statement, this question does not need a political statement in order to be answered.

I really don't think it would be worth your time to bother with saying no thank you! that in it's self may rock the boat if you know what I mean.......I would just delete any mail I didn't agree with......if you tell a friend that you don't agree and to stop with the forwards they may wonder why and get offended by it.....so you have to ask yourself if it is really work the hassle offending anyone....it is really simple to just click the delete button then having to explain why you don't agree with someone....yada yada and end up risking a friend or something over that.....

I'm on my sister-in-laws "forward email list" and I get garbage all the time. I refuse to open it unless it's a personally written email about a topic I need to know about. I've written her before to take me off the forward-junk-email but she seems to forget. "Forwards" are just a way to spread viruses and "lecture" people on topics that some are too afraid to broach in person. Yep, it's rude. Send those people reminders you won't open any forwards from this point on - then don't.

I would just delete. No sense offending a good friend. However, if you get 10 a day from the same person, you could ask her to cut it down a little.

Just say "I appreciate your freedom to express your feelings, but I do not share your opinion about such topics. Kindly remove me from any future political correspondence."

That is about the nicest way. If that will offend, ignore by deleting it.

I just press 'delete".

A friend asked me not to send certain kinds of humor. I no longer do. We are still friends.

if those dang liberal dems are sending you anti repuclican emails, I would tell them about it. If they are telling not to say Merry Christmas, tell them to mind their own business. If they are trying to push their baby murdering rights on you, tell them that you respect life and to leave you alone.

I know what you mean, I get some email that I don't like and I am getting tired of tree hugers telling me to save the whales and kill the baby's. IT DOES GET OLD
