thanks every one for all of your advise but he seems to be doing much much better all of a sudden still a little wobbly but not as bad.

he probably just hurt his foot, I would say if he's been doing it for a while it might be arthritis, but it's probably like some sort of sprain or something, every once in a while my corgi/beagle mix starts limping and we've taken him to the vet numerous times and they say there's nothing seriously wrong with him so your pup will probably be okay.

NEVER GIVE AN ANIMAL ADVIL!!!!!!!! My sisters dog got ahold of it and the vet freaked, she now has liver damage and is living on borrowed time. they were barely able to save her!!

That said, dachshunds are very prone to spinal injuries which can present by limping or loss of function in the hind legs. this dog REALLY needs to see a vet NOW! No waiting to come back from the cruise, take him tonight or tomorrow but don't wait. Poor doggy!

Older dogs like dachshunds with the long body and short legs tend to began having trouble with the vertebrates in their back because of the long span between their legs its possible your dog could have a pinched nerve causing him to limp. I would definitely take him to the vet. They can give your dog a cortisone shot that will help. Good Luck

for one don't let a dachund jump like that....they have long spines and very easily can hurt a disc and it causes limping or dragging of their foot....my mother in law has 3 and has the same problem. try to keep it from any jumping and maybe it can heal itself....if you don't it can cause seveir problems and we have put one dog to sleep because of it and learned to not let the other ones do it. good luck

did he have a good run prior to the limping episode? if so he may have hurt his leg...could be a muscle sprain or even arthritis...i would give him aspirin rather than Advil..it may ease the pain of arthritis....take him to the vet...hope all Will be well

Well 10 years is kinda old for a dog... Maybe he is getting arthuritis. Then again... Maybe he just has something stuck in it or got bit by a bug or something.

He got himself into trouble. Don't give him anything that is not approved by your vet.You do have a vet?You can call and talk to a tech or something. Is he still eating? If so ,thats a good sign.
