How do you keep your childs small room organized. It seems like my daughter has a ton of stuff and she has a ton of clothes. Which means it all ends up on the floor. HELP

I just went through this with my kids and their rooms. First I started with the clothes anything that they hadn't worn in at least a month went in a box to go to charity along with the ones they had outgrown or were on the verge of out growing. I have found that it is easier and neater to hang all shirts and pants up and only put pajamas and undies in the drawers. Next I got a bunch of storage containers and anything that was mementos they wanted to keep went into them and then on the top shelf of the closet, I cleaned out the toy boxes and anything that was broke or missing pieces went in the trash and I got under the bed storage containers for the games, crayons etc. With X-mas so near I had them all go through their toys and get out the ones they either don't play with any longer or just don't like and we cleaned them up to also go to charity. Go to Wal-mart and get the open front stackable container bins and place three or four together in a corner of her room. Here she can place back packs, gloves, hair things ets and it is in one place and a door hanger for shoes works wonders and then the toy box can slide into the closet. Make her help you with all of it though once she has to spend a day cleaning it up she is more likely to keep it straight.

Can you afford to install those adjustable closet organizers. You could have some clothes rod higher for clothes that are only used occasionally and the lower rod for clothes used more frequently. Since the rod is lower the child can hang up his/her own clothing. These systems also come with shelves for sweaters, sweatshirts etc. You could have a novel laundry hamper for the child to place dirty clothes in.You can get character ones as well as the traditional styles. There are many storage units that have drawers so you can store items.Book shelves can be used for books, games and toys. Try get items that have two purposes. A window seat will have built in storage. You can also get wooden toy boxes that can double as a seat by just putting a few cushions on it.Try giving your child an incentive for keeping his/her room clean by giving an allowance for keeping the room tidy.Hooks can be mounted behind the door to hang up back packs to store toys in. I found this good for lego, action figures or Barbies, colouring books and crayons etc.It kept the toys organized.

Invest in a lot of storage containers. Especially in a really good closet organizer...if you have a closet. This is extremely helpful. Make use of under bed storage or crib or whatever. Try an inexpensive bookshelf and covering it with fabric that drapes over top of it like a curtain to hide the clutter. Be creative. Imagine you are Martha Stewart....what would Martha do?....LOL.

Best of luck!

Get rid of stuff you're not using. If you haven't seen it in 6 months, it needs to go.

Keep the clothes picked up, and have a toy box for your daughter to put her toys in at the end of the day. They don't have to be totally "organized" to look clean.
