You generally have to install them onto the computer. When you download, usually they come in zip files. You unzip, and they have the files that are the fonts. You drop those into the Fonts folder in the Control Panel (if you have Windows), then they're installed. At least, in XP. I think Win 98 was more difficult...

I'm pretty sure you also have to close out of and reopen MS word for them to show up too.

Your fonts are located in the C:\Windows\Fonts directory
Go to my computer, click on Local Disk C:/ (or something similar to that) click on the 'windows' folder, then on the 'fonts' folder, if at any time a warning pops up, say that you want to view files or whatever.

Then, open up the folder where your downloaded fonts are, and drag them from there into the C:/windows/fonts folder

Also, you may have to completely close MS Word and re-open it for the new fonts to show up.

font files have the .TTF extension. do a search for .TTF and you will find the folder where they are stored. if you download a font file just drag and drop it into that folder
