I have had three different brands of subs in my set up, first I had 2 10" Rockford Fosgate subs. Not bad for the price I paid. Changed those to 2 10" MTX subs. Better and I paid a little bit more than the fosgate subs. Then I heard someone elses JL subs and it was just a world of difference. I replaced my 2 MTX 10's with only one JL 10 W6 and it puts out a lot more with a hell of a lot more clarity than anything I have ever heard. The JL's are worth every penny.

Unlike some responses, I'll try and stick with the question. Most people praise on JL Audio, not that it isn't worthy, but most people who do haven't heard other high end woofers. I would say MTX over JL, simply because for the price they seem to play harder. However, I would take JL's w7 line over any MTX woofer. Then again, this is speculating I have lots of money to burn on these woofers.

i have neither.. I have a Alpine Type R 12" being pushed by a 200.2 Rockford Fosgate Punch.

I have had multiple people come to me and think I've had 2 12" , not one person has came and said 10"s or one 12"

A couple didn't even beleive that I only had one 12" so i had to show them.

well JL is overpriced and overated, but sound ok. but MTX sounds like crap, but isnt overpriced. i would go with JL if i HAD to choose between those 2 brands. but you DONT have to choose between those 2 brands, thank god!

JLs are more expensive - but they sound very very good and look classier than most other stuff out there. If you can afford it, save your money and buy the JL stuff.
