As a dealer who attends many auctions, I can tell you that a $200 car is most likely going to be a problem. I can get $125 or more for any car at the scrapyard.Scrap dealers usually also attend the public auctions, and they buy cars there. If you buy a $200 car, most likely it will need a lot of work.

You might be ale to get a car for 200 bucks at an auction. I bought a few for between 100 and 200 bucks. They were running junk! had more things wrong with them than right! One did get me to work for a few months, but it was, and I mean was a piece of junk! An old crappy car that got me thought some tough times!
Good luck!

Good question. Not likely a good one, some friends sell cars cheep to friends so the person won't feel he/she was given something for free. If it your friend it could be OK but only you will know, if it runs then it can be salvaged likely for more than that depending on the year, make and model. If your not sure call a mechanic for an inspection, that couls cost you as much as 100 so, Good Luck and GOD Bless.

You can get one of those plastic ones at walmart that all the kids drive. Seriously for $200? I wouldnt expect much at all.. unless you are going to an amazing auction. My first POS car was $3000.

Have you tried e-bay? You'd be surprised at what you can get. I gave our old one to our renters...(it was a 1986 Mercury Marquis) it was a boat. Not all of the windows worked, no a/c, but it ran smooth. Trade in they were only going to give me 200. I figured since it still ran good I'd rather give it to someone that could use it.

if you go to a wholesale auction you might be able to get something that runs, but otherwise that is way too little to buy a decent car
for a wholesale auction you can get a long lasting dependable car for about $400-500
At a dealership or through private sellers about $2000-3000

For $200 bucks you can get any kind of car you want, but you get what you pay for. For a daily driver I wouldn't pay less than $3,000.

unless you have a lot of time and money to fix stuff don't even think of getting any kind of decent car for 200 bucks
