I don't think it's Jesus people have a problem with. I think it's the whole arrogance and hypocrisy of many Christians that offends people to the point that they can't resist picking apart the flaws in their holy doctrine.
In any case, isn't it equally disturbing how many people are ignorant about every other religion besides their own? It's funny...as an atheist, I find that I will argue vehemently against some arrogant Christian who is running around saying that all homosexuals are an abomination and that all Muslims are murderers, but then I'll turn around and defend Christianity to a Muslim who says all Christians are crusaders. It just depends upon the attitude of the person I'm talking to. So I probably come across as an "**** anti-religion atheist ******" to some people, but only if they are being irrational, judgmental, and downright mean themselves in the first place.
In other words, I respect those who respect others. But as soon as some religious prick starts saying that everyone besides himself is evil and cites biblical scripture to prove it, then you better bet I'm going to tear apart the Bible to prove him wrong. When people use religion as a tool for hatred, then yes, I fight back. But when they simply state they believe and try to find a rational middle ground between their faith and reality, then I have no problem with people of faith.
In fact, I have friends of all faiths and creeds, and since they all manage to embrace their own faith without spewing hatred all over the rest of the planet, I'm cool with it.

It is probably because they are the extreme ends, and they tend to be the most visible and probably most vocal people of their groups. I think most people tend to be somewhere in the middle and fade into the background when these kind of folks appear. I am a Christian and I can tell you that I am nowhere near the goodie- goodie type person on one extreme. I am still too much of a sinner to be that way. But us regular folks tend to get overlooked when the more sensational people come out to play, and that it can seem as if these two extremes are the only ones that exist. I know there are a lot of religious people out there who struggle with personal sins, and there are also atheists who strive to keep a form of moral/ ethical code that they try to live by.

Friend, if one is ignorant about religon it is their own fault; the written word of God is so simple. Now had your question been why are their so many ignorant people, well that could possibly be a problem. If you have read the bible as you say you have than you should know that the written word of God says, I shall tell you but not word for word, becasue I do not want to put out my bilbe at this moment, so here goes: Pure religon and undefiled before God is to visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction. It is that simple friend.

Don't be mislead, people are not ignorant about religion. With all the killing for God , Jihad, Holy War, Pedophile priests with no God intervening, God running out of manna to feed the world's starving people, the discovery of the 3.3 million yr. old human-like skull in Ethiopia etc., people don't believe in religion anymore. The fact that over 100 million people have been killed in the name of God and this is swept under the carpet, puts the icing on the cake. Religion killing and religion hanky panky is bringing the demise of religion.

what are you saying no middle ground? That is where a lot of people are. Religion has become so political that I feel like voting everytime you step into a church it is like a forum for some political issue. They don't preach God anymore but what political party to vote for and if your don't your going to hell in a handbasket. I wish they would respect peoples beliefs and keep their political views out of the church. If you don't vote their way they don't want you in there.

it really is puzzling to argue w everybody's individual adventure. even with the undeniable fact that, from a clinical perspective, there look countless elements that enter into gay needs and habit (and those should be 2 diff issues). such issues as beginning order, publicity to particular hormones interior the womb, and some genetic markers look to make it extra probable someone will be gay. even with the undeniable fact that, none of those are one hundred% - or perhaps on the brink of it. those who've been sexually abused are a lot extra probable to be gay, yet back, nowhere close to one hundred%, even with the undeniable fact that it truly is a area. similar twins raised aside are extra probable to both be gay than are non twin siblings interior an identical problem. so as it really is a demonstration there's a genetic link. yet, if someone is rather 'born that way' and has no decision, then w similar twins - raised at the same time or aside - it could be one hundred%. And it really is nowhere close. i trust those who say that they had those needs because that they were too youthful to appreciate, yet I actually trust those who say they felt that way yet are literally very fortuitously heterosexual - some for decades. IMO, it really is only as incorrect to push aside both's adventure as invalid or dishonest. So it really isn't any longer precise to assert it really is 'only' a decision, or that human beings 'opt for' to be gay, as if it really is like figuring out even if one is going to order fish or fowl for lunch. And it really is only as faulty to assert that everybody is born that way and performance 'no' decision interior the matter, as if it really is like being born w a particular eye colour. Sexuality is a lot extra complicated than that. both area should be in a position to communicate and picture about different thoughts w/o resorting to calling one yet another names. you received't be in a position to attempt this many human beings on both area, yet you may w some. There are terrible human beings on both fringe of the placement. like the human beings from that church in KS who protest at funerals, and those that push for regulations that can make only retaining that homosexuality is incorrect a 'hate crime'. even even with the truth that sexuality is a large area of who we are and will strengthen reliable emotions, all of us should be in a position to step decrease back and communicate those subject matters - even strongly - w/o hate or demonizing. i wish you'll discover such human beings on your tutorial placing.

Well, when it comes to religion it's only black or white, there is no gray about it! If you're not on God's side then there is only one other side you can be on and that is Satans! God gives us free will so that we can all make our own decisions but in the end EVERY knee shall bow and every tounge shall confess that Christ is the Lord! Then those who didn't accept Christ as their personal savior will be cast into Hell for eternity!

Ignorance: Those who lack knowledge, training, information, or are unlearned. Which comprises the vast majority of Christianity. Usually brought on by laziness after conversion. And yes it is possible to loose you salvation. I am sorry for you.
