Oh, yeah for Doxies! Great little dogs, but need a lot of training, early on!
I suggest one long-haired and one short-haired for variety, and get two boys, name one Moose and one Malcolm.

Have fun:)

Edited to add: Please rescue...you can check out the National Doxie Rescue Federation. for more information on plenty of loving happy yappy doxies that need good homes...thank you:)

I suggest you read books on daschunds first before buying on impulse, because these dogs are stubborn to train, but are good dogs in general. My mom bought 2 light brown short hair daschunds and are fun dogs to have. One named Kato and the other was twister. Also note that when female daschunds hump other dogs is to show domination or who is the boss, male dogs don't do that. These dogs are not as stubborn as Jack Russel like the one on the show Frasier. Even Beagles too.

Focus more on finding a reputable breeder and picking a puppy that best suits your personality than there colour. Mention to the breeder which colour you prefer, but be open to different colours if the puppy is more suited to your personality and lifestyle.

As far as the name, I like names that have some kind of common denominator, but not an obvious one. But it's up to you! You're the one who is going to have to live with these dogs and their names for the next 15+ years!

I have two. They are wonderful little dogs. I agree with the person above who recommended getting them from a rescue. Both of mine were "throw-aways", though they didn't come directly from a shelter or rescue. The people I got them from were just immature. They got them as puppies because they were cute, then when the novelty wore off they didn't want them anymore and were going to call the dog pound to come and get them. That's when I stepped in. They were covered with fleas and we learned on our first vet appointment that one of them had heart worms. My husband and I got them fixed up with flea control, shots and heart worm treatment (for the one), and they have been lovable little house pets for many years.

I wish you the best.

Mine are named Alf and Jeffrey, but you should name them whatever you want to name them (anything except "Oscar"--there are too many of them!) Just keep experimenting with names, and when you hit on the right ones, you will know it.

For you to ask those questions tells me you not ready to get them. Give it up until you are old enough to know the answers to your question.
