well is he just eating below the recommended amount or not at all. If hes just eating a little bit keep an eye on him and try to see if he will eat some treats. If not take him to the vet ASAP. It is dangerous for a dog to lose 10% of its weight so therefore 1 pound is dangerous for a 10 pound dog. There may be many reasons for his not eating.

I hope everything turns out okay!

There can be several reasons for this.

1) Have you changed the dogs food recently?
2) Has there been a major event e.g. death of a family member/moving house can be distressing to a dog.
3) illness.

Have you tried other foods e.g. small pieces of meat, dry food as well as normal dog food?

Also try and give the dog regular meal times normally 2-3 a day with its recommended amount split between them.

Although this may be the case I urge you to take it to the Vet in case there is a more sever underlying cause that would be best to get sorted ASAP.

Do you feed your dog other foods.... in between meals? Stick with the dog food and feed that, even if your dog doesn't eat for a few days- pretty soon he/she will understand that he has to eat the dog food. My chihuahua did that to me, but I listended to the vets advice... she was right- she eats her kibbles with gusto now-halleluya!
