No. The cross came into use during the reign of Emperor Constantine.

The early church used several identifying symbols prior to that. The Ichtus (or fish) symbol, the Chi Rho (an X with a P superimposed on it), and the "grafted in" symbol ( a menorah with a Star of David and Ichtus merged together).

The cross became a symbol after Jesus Christ was nailed and put to death on it. ( and rose again 3 days later)

For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only Son. So that whosoever believes in him shall not parish, but have eternal life - John 3:16

He paid the price for our sins so that those who believe and trust in him could have eternal life.

Peter was there at the cross. Paul didn't come into the picture until later because he was a Pharisee at the time.

nope.... have you seen the symbol fish??? thats another symbol of Chrisitanity duing the time of persecution...
