can adults do this too? The dctr said it would work like codiene without the side effects for my son. How about adults? I have a toothache and can't get in to see dentist till Monday.

Yes these drugs should have the same effect on you. Ibuprofin alone may even be enough.

Tylenol and ibuprofen are not going to do anything for a cough that I am aware of if I were you I would find another doctor before he tells you something that can hurt you or your son these re analgesics and anti pyre tics ( pain and fever reducers )ask your pharmacist about a cough suppressant as for your toothache I can help you there it is simple cheap and effective table salt keep it in the affected area ( around your tooth ) it reduces the infection and kills the nerve endings just keep putting small amounts in your mouth and around that tooth spit it out and add more after a while the pain will go away and so will the infection ( I know it sounds to simple and stupid but it does work ) if you do this till Monday you should be ready to have the dentist wok on you otherwise he will give you a prescription for antibiotics and tell you to come back in 10 to 14 days

forget the Tylenol for a tooth ache you should take ibuprofen 800Mg's every 6-8 hours until you can get into the dentist. Or call the dentist Friday and have him prescribe something stronger. I am a nurse and have never ever heard of taking Tylenol and ibuprofen together. sometimes doctors have patients alternate Tylenol with ibuprofen but never together. There is nothing in the literature that states that taken together it will have codeine effects.

What kind of quack are you seeing? What doctor would give a pain and fever reducing med for a cough? And at the same time, no less?? Yeah, tylenol or ibuprofin would be fine for your toothache, but your child needs to see a real doctor.

motrin is an anti-inflamatory and can help. The other thing would be a heating pad. If you call the doctor tomorrow and explain to them that you are in a lot of pain, they may fit you in inbetween appointments tomorrow. You will inevitably end up waiting in the waiting room for quite a while, but they will probably fit you in if they know how much it hurts. Even if they won't do that, call first thing and asked to be put on a waiting list for any cancellations for tomorrow. Good Luck!

.I had the same problem a while back. I took one or the other and on the really bad days both. They didn't have any side effects. So..only take both if the pain become TOO unbearable. other then that i would recommend Ibuprofen.
