public preceptions.... people don't question fire alarms in schools, but can't understand why police are in those same schools.... Police are the heros, fighting each day to protect the rest of us.... They are proactive and this is why they have trouble... Whining criminals complain that cops are out to get them.... well guess what, quit breaking the freakin law!! Firemen are re-active but they get all the glory... remember around 9/11, how many times you heard cops called heros? almost as many as firemen...

be glad we have them around! without them, we would live in a state of chaos!

Thanks to all officers!!

I think the biggest problem is that police officers have to use discretion and the law doesn't have laws or rules for everything or every situation. So there is no answer for everything and sometimes this can be a problem.

I have the biggest problems when people call the police to solve problems that they could have solved themselves. We have 2 police officers on duty in our pop. 700 town so we tend to stay very busy. The next biggest prolem in my eyes is people who thing they are above or are the law. "cough" "cough" correction offficers and attorneys give us the biggest problems especially on suspected DUI stops.

People who won't take responsibility for the safety of their city.

They won't report a crime in progress, but they'll stand around after the fact and say negative stuff like, "Where were the police?"
They think that a police department with a ratio of 1 to every 3,000 citizens is enough to patrol their streets and keep them safe. They won't get involved in reporting crimes that lower the quality of life, like prostitution and drug use, because they call them "victimless crimes," but they scream when their house or car is burglarized by an addict trying to get enough to pawn for his next hit, or when their husband passes an std to them because he is using prostitutes.
If they get stopped for a traffic violation that could cost them or the person they crash into their lives, the first thing out of their mouth is "Why aren't you out catching bad guys?" Well, gee, I would be, if you could control yourself and drive safely.
That's how I see it.

Stupid people and whiners aren't the biggest problem, but they are a problem.

The police tell you to freeze, you freeze. You don't run, you don't reach for a pocket, you don't try to run them down with a car. And if you do and get shot, nobody (except family and friends) should greeve for you.

Too much wrist-slapping in the courts...the cops arrest the 'alleged' criminals and the judges let them back out on the streets.
