Because there is no discipline. Remember the old days, when, if you didn't listen, you got spanked?

Now you can't even look at your kid crossed eyed, or they will have you arrested for child abuse. Kids have caught on to this and they threaten to turn in parents just because they don't want to do what they are told.

I think the police need to step out of the scene, and let parent discipline their children.

Quite often because their parents give them too many meaningless, tiny, unnecessary instructions! If you give a child fifty small orders a day, like Wipe your shoes, Wash your hands, Walk around that toy not over it, Listen to me when I talk to you - if you do that fifty times a day, of course they tune out and stop listening. Wouldn't you?
Try to limit your orders to the necessary ones and let little things slide. When you child must listen to you, get down to their eye level, use their name, make eye contact, give them their instruction clearly and simply, and make sure they understand that the instruction needs to be followed through. If you do that, then they DO listen.

its because children they are still un known to this world theri minds are are not working coz they are innocent, pure and energy. they are the sensitive souls and sharp and the will to change the world. since atheri ability to do more and different things they want to go on theie own way they are bit naught even if this happens being a parent we should try to show then a guide line for then for theri future creating an atmosphere of peace and richness in their environments. so try this oneeee and apply it to ur childre though i am a college student i also grew up n came to this stage ..............

im 16 and i listen some times but i chose not to act like it cause then it would seem like u want to b like ur parents and no1 wants 2 b like there parents at that age unless ur parent are pro sports players or a playboy photographer. but everything u say alwasy sticks in there head some where. most kids repect wat there parents say unles the parents did something 2 make the kid hate the parents. parents seriously, give some room for ur kid 2 develop as a kidd so he doesnt stay immature untill colloge and then is a social outcast there and ends up doin something stupid like getting completly trashed

just a little fyi you may like it u may not

children listen if you beat them hard at least 3 times a day. once when they wake up, once after lunch, and one more before bed. if your lucky they will be knocked out after the last beating and you won't have to put up with their s h i t at bedtime. also make sure you have an excuse for all of the bruises and welts.

I agree with ramman. It is lack of discipline. The most out of control kids that don't listen are the ones with the parents who don't lay down the law. And it is a shame, cause that kid is going to grow up a spoiled brat who thinks he can always get his way. Believe you me, if and when I get kids, they will grow up proper and they will listen. They get out of a line, and they will be getting the open hand to the behind. And anybody that sticks there nose in my business and starts crying to me about it will get it across the face.

Let me get it out there for all of you cry babies. I do not condone abuse. Spanking a child is not abuse.

Oh, they listen. They hear every thing you say-and then repeat it- for better or worse. And when they grow up they do and say everything the same way mom and/or dad did. They learn by example, so be careful what you say.

Children don’t listen to you maybe because of the way you are talking to them. Try to come to them and speak to them like young adults ( for teen-agers).

Could it be the parenting style hon? I was always told, "There is no such thing as an uneducated child, only unteaching teachers".
Teach the child how to listen with perhaps loving consequences.
