If you need a free puppy because you can't afford to buy one, you really need to rethink things. Initial vaccinations cost a couple hundred dollars -- there is a whole series of them for young puppies. Neuters cost around a hundred depending on where you get them, and spays are more, but having an unneutered dog can mean even more expensive health problems, soiled rugs, chewed up fences, etc in the future. Heartworm medicine is a monthly expense (I pay about $10 a month for my large dog's pills) but very important. Yearly vaccinations are not only important, but mandated by law in many places.

Who in their right minds would want a free pitbull? Free usually equals unwanted by present owner, so it's either neglected, beaten, aggressive or destructive. I'd prefer to avoid a screwed up pitbull, given the choice.
