I live in Bangkok and it is extremely safe for Muslims and people of all ethnic origins. Only in the three provinces in the very south of Thailand is there any social unrest.

In Bangkok around Sukhumvit Road near Soi 3 to Soi 11 you can find all kinds of Muslims and restaurants. This is a city that everyone, regardless of nationality of religion faith, blends right into.

Very, very safe

widely I consider the solutions above. the only rationalization for me including my answer is to declare that this week there may well be some style of political unrest focused on Bangkok and that i will't say with any fairly - nor do i think of absolutely everyone else can - that i know how its going to coach out. The history is that the form Tribunal is due in 2 days time - 30 might 2007 - to furnish its decision in a case touching directly to even though if the two considerable political events, the TRT and the Democrat occasion, broke election regulations in final three hundred and sixty 5 days's universal election. Theoretically, conviction for those offence can convey approximately dissolution of a political occasion. How the events and the supporters of those political events will react to the alternative of the Tribunal, even though the alternative is, is each physique's wager. In a worst case scenario it would desire to convey approximately unrest on the streets in some areas of Bangkok. even though if, i'm particular that the army will take strict measures to incorporate any unrest. on the television a pair of nights in the past it reported that people who may well be protesters have been going to be prevented from entering Bangkok and that steps have been being taken in Isan - an area the place TRT has stable help - to limit shuttle to Bangkok this week till a non-political protest rationalization for shuttle might desire to be shown. even though if such stable controls on people's movemnet would be carried out or not i don't know - i'm basically repeating what replaced into reported on television. So, in end, Bangkok is in general risk-free as according to the solutions above. even though if, on Wednesday this week it fairly is advisable to maintain a watch on the information channels/purchase a newspaper on Thursday morning to maintain your self interior the loop approximately how issues are coming up.

Thailand means land of the free.

Virtually anybody is safe to walk anywhere in Thailand, except in the south which is main Muslim.

But you will not find any backlash to this situation in Bangkok where I live

Arabs have there own section off Sukumvit Rd and Soi 12 near the Grace Hotel. It is a nice hotel but prdominately Arabs stay there. Many other muslims stay in the area. It is a big party place for them and at this time I dont think they want to screw it up for all of them.

Sure. The thai don't have problem with races, religions, beliefs, colors etc. I live on the west side of chao phya river surrounded by temples and mosques. At 5, you may hear the muslim pray on loud speakers like what you may hear it in all muslim countries. People dress as they like, teeangers may wear westerner style outfits, while muslim wear their traditional cloths and they all are walking, shopping on the streets together.

FYI, the current Thai Army Commander in chief and Minister of Interior are Muslim?

Just don't worry. It is not Somalia or Nigeria. Go ahead. They treat all with respect. But it will be good for you if you can avoid any special Islamic symbols like the beard and hijab.
