Cite which version of the Holy Bible you're quoting from, please.
Here's what the RSV 2nd Edition says for 1Corithians 6: 9-10
"Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor the adulterers, nor the sexual perverts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God."
I don't see the words "male prostitutes" "homosexual offenders". And these are the words of Paul, not Jesus. Remember that!
Yeah, Jesus loves us! So leave us be, you Paulist!

Do you? NO ONE has come up with a "quote" intelligently. So glad you added that last line: "...JESUS LOVES you..." I was about ready to throw myself down the loo. According to YOU, no one will inherit that kingdom, (if it's ruled by such a biased entity, I wouldn't want to). Why did you leave out FEMALE prostitutes?
Because of what's her face in the bible? How about liars, bigots, smokers, people filled with anger, coveting, judging others, pomposity, oh pooh, I could go on. I RESPECT the right of others to believe as they will, just don't get on a PREACHING diatribe.
Edit: Diedre H was the GREATEST so far. Accolades. & just one more thing: It would be far more appropriate if you saved your dramatic speech for a church--where everyone would agree with you. I wonder if you're just another frustrated would-be pastor/
priest, whatever. AND. That wasn't really a question, it was a statement/sermon. Watch out for the Yahoo police!

Yes, I am well aware of what it says, and I say to you : I do not agree. The Bible was written for a time, a people, and a culture different than our own. The Bible doesn't talk about Rated R movies becuase it's *gasp * 'new'. Homosexuality might not be knew, but the things being discovered about it are. Time to change too. Tolerance is the only way. Praise God, Allah, Buddah - and whoever else wants to be included in the list!

I see it is the NIV version of I Corinthians 6:9-10.
Here are KJ21 and NKJV:
I Corinthians 6:9-10 (KJ21, 21st Century King James Version)
9Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the Kingdom of God.
I Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV, New King James Version)
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

NIce sermon.... did you get a mountain with that?
Seriously, if the Bible came close to representing what the original scriptures said about homosexuality, the likes of Fred Phelps would be out of business.
Give it a rest until you do some serious work studying scripture... not just the fundamentalist-approved KJV, but the original Hebrew and Greek. You'll be surprised at what it does and doesn't really say.
Did you know that one passage condemning Witchcraft actually condemns "people who poison". I guess "poisoner" didn't sound romantic enough, so it was converted to "Witch". Slightly different in meaning, don't you think?
Did you know that many of the words translated as "homosexual", in the Hebrew actually referred to "temple prostitutes"? But then again, fundamentalists don't care to look at that, do they? They prefer a Bible with their agenda properly represented.
Did you know that Christ himself said NOT ONE WORD regarding homosexuality? Look it up for yourself. Of course Paul did, but he also said that women shouldn't preach, that celibacy was best, and that only people who weren't strong enough to do that should get married. I don't see many celibate fundamentalist pastors out there proclaiming the word of Paul in that respect. I would think that the only person to speak about homosexuality in the New Testament ought to have a bit more impact on the Fundamentalist world; you should see more celibate fundamentalists if his word meant that much.
Nope.... take his word regarding homosexuality, but forget the one regarding celibacy. Only the former is important, right?
Edit:
To Theophilu... whoever he is, who asked the question about how one would translate Leviticus 18:22 from the English,
The whole chapter does talk about who (and sometimes what) people may have sex with. It is very specific in such things as not "uncovering the nakedness" of (for example) your wife's sister, or son's daughter. The chapter says nothing about not having sex with people other than whom you're married to. It does say that we aren't to mate with animals; that seems good enough advice. Still, it permits extramarital sex, and forbids what other "religions" allowed. It is a chapter dedicated to how to properly honor the Jewish God, at that time, sexually. If the parts allowing sexual relations outside of marriage are no longer correct, then why should we assume that other parts are? If we still take one part literally, why not the rest? This section of scripture is used as a prohibition against homosexuality, but it implicitly permits polygamy. Why is only the section about homosexuality so oft quoted?

That is correct. Homosexuality is a abomination to God.
That is why Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of their sinful homosexual lifestyles.
Leviticus 18:22
Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
Homosexuals can try all they want to make the rest of us think this is acceptable to marry, called themselves a family if kids are involved or adopted. In the eyes of God that will always be a sin.
The Lord God hates sin and cannot enter his kingdom or presence.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

To those who say that scripture is being mistranslated, how can you mistranslate this passage?
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.

Yes.
Leviticus 18:22
22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Leviticus 20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Matthew 19
4"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them MALE AND FEMALE,' 5and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
Romans 1
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
In regards to eating certain flesh being abomination that is not wht is written in the Law. It says that those things were to be abominations to the Israelites, like idols of foreign gods, but in Lev. 18 it is specifically referring to different forms of sexual immorality as acts of abomination and clearly indicates they were as such even before the law was given among the Canaanites (v. 27).
Leviticus 18
26Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: 27(For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) 28That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. 29For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people. 30Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

Give me a break. The Bible also says that eating shrimp is an abomination.
All those old rules about what to eat and what not to eat and with whom to have sex so you can make more babies to increase the size of the tribe and what kind of food God likes to eat best NO LONGER APPLY! Don't you get it? It was all propaganda to make sure one particular ancient tribe gained more power over the others. Get over it.
