Has it been a problem?

A lot of people love to read for the escape it gives them -- if you have different outlets of escape, then you'll be fine. (-: As a matter of fact, some people get addicted to reading, and find it hard to get anything else done. So, actually, you may be better off. (I speak as a book addict.)

The other thing is, if you like reading non-fiction, then you're still getting a lot of good stories.

The nice things about reading are: it improves your vocabulary; you deal with certain situations in the book, so when you come across them in real life, you have a model of action; you have something to talk about with other readers; it makes you look intelligent.

HOWEVER, I don't know if it's actually a wonderful thing. Lots of illiterate people are perfectly happy. Get your stories from talking with other people, and I think that may be actually better than a book. The range won't be as great (most likely), but the people-to-people contact is much more valuable. You can't argue with a book when the main character does something stupid, or ask the narrator to go back and clarify a point.
