If your cat is a female and is rolling on the floor, whining, crying and is very affectionate, she isn't pregnant, she is in heat. That means she's ready to get pregnant. If she doesn't conceive (get pregnant) she will go out of heat in about 2 weeks and then go back in in a couple of more weeks. Cats are NOT like dogs. They can go in and out of heat, which is why we have so many cats in this world. Dogs go into heat approx. 2 X a year. That's it.
If this is the case, she needs to be spayed in between heats. usually they do not bleed the first week, bleed the second (which with a cat you may not notice because they groom so much) and stop the 3rd week.
If this is a male cat or a spayed female I really don't know why he/she would be more affectionate for any lengh of time.

Probably nothing. Cats are strange creatures. Most days my cats ignore me and one day out of nowhere they are just affectionate as can be and won't leave me alone.
I had a cat who hated my husband. Had nothing to do with him. If he left his clothes on the floor he peed on them.
I was a travel agent and traveled quite often alone. When I would come home, my cat was ticked at me for leaving him. He would climb up in my husbands lap and be the most loving cat in the world for a few days and ignore me.
I guess he thought he was getting even with me, but within a few days he was back to loving me and hating my husband. Cats are very interesting creatures.

Sweet! I've found cats are most affectionate just when we need them to be. It's like they sense when we are upset or sad, or sometimes just calm and open.
It's probably you. Plus, she's got her food, water, health, shelter. She's a happy cat and she knows she needs you. Kitty love is something people don't get until they experience it. I've never had cats until this last ten years of my life now and I had no idea it was so much fun to have them.

If he/she doesn't want something and isn't in heat, it's your body language.
Cats are more comfortable and affectionate with people who, in human terms, 'ignore' them. Looking at them sideways, blinking slowly, folding your arms or keeping them occupied, not getting in their faces ... those are all very positive things to a cat. If you were another cat behaving that way, you would be a very close colony member, or even your cat's mother or kitten. Of course this creates good feelings toward you, and he/she wants to show affection.

What you may have done right is leaving your cat alone. That's what I've experienced. My cat came to me as one of those "leave me the heck alone, I don't wanna be touched" types, so I left him alone (fed him of course and cleaned his litter box!) but then he came around after a while because he wanted the attention. Now he's the type that will hide for a while, but then will come out and be an attention "whore" (pardon my terminology) and not leave me alone until I've played with him or petted him enough.

I think its your cat has just been in a good "mood". My cat gets like that, usually, he is not the type of cat that would cuddle up with anyone, but sometimes we just gets really affectionate.

I don't think it is anything to worry about. It sounds as if she is very happy by the rolling around on the floor, which means the cat is comfortable to be around you. When hiding in your closet is just a comfy place to be and having your scent on the clothes is the icing on the cake. If she is on your pc while you are there, she just wants attention again. I know how it is as my female cat is just the same.

Ummm this is very vague.. :P
Maybe you've been playing with it more lately? Or if its just the cat then maybe if you have a female cat she could be pregnant? Pregnant queens usually seek more affection than usual.

If it is a girl and not spayed. she is probally in heat and they want to love anybody & anything. Or it's because the cat has become more mature and mellowed out

It might be the cat is younger and feels more and more comfortable now.It might be the climate change-cats cuddle more if cold.It might be the loss of a "rival" cat in the house.
