Toothaches are painful but can be prevented
by take suitable precautions. Avoid eating
food which will result in the formation of acid
in the mouth, brush teeth regularly with a fluoride
toothpaste. I found the information at

Home remedies are crap they may seem as though they help but are more then likely doing more harm them good as most of the ones I've seen use ingredients full of acids which will only cause damage. Ibuprofen is good for dental pain you must have some in your medicine cabinet if not then any other pain killer will do, the only way to sort it permanently is to see the Dentist, painkillers is only a temporary option.

What ever you do, do not put an aspirin on the tooth; it will cause a burn of the tissue and then you will have a worse problem. You could try Ambusol for some temporary relief, but finding a DDS would be the best bet.

If you have some Whisky or Vodka apparently that works! Just dip a cotton bud in the alcohol and place the bud on the tooth (by the gumline) that is causing pain!

There is some kind of ointment called Hurricane. It numbs anything part of the body that you applpy it to. That helps... Or you can try Motrin or even Benadryl. Mouth pain sucks..Good Luck!

Oil of cloves can be purcased in any drug store or try hot packing it to ease the pain. Salt, heated in a pan and wrapped in a dish towel makes a nice hot pack.

SCOTCH WHISKY seriously. Swill the whisky round the sore tooth. Repeat as necessary. Whisky is brilliant for this, honest.

Eventually a blessed sleep will overcome the sufferer.

-Mix asafoetida with lemon juice and slightly heat it. Soak a cotton swab in this mixture and place it in the tooth cavity which will relieve pain quickly.
-Apply a little tea tree oil or clove oil at the site of pain using cotton swab.
