Was he in a penthouse of a hotel with a do not disturd sign on his door? Did he remain in there while his troops suffered the same fate some 5 hrs later?

I'm pretty sure he was in the philipines. He lost an opportunity to launch a counterattack when the japanese invaded. He could have saved a lot of lives, but for some reason didn't.

When Pearl Harbor was attacked Gen. Mac Aurthur was not even in Hawaii. He was stationed in the Philippines. I hate to break it to you, but nobody expected the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, not even Mac Aurthur. He was not anymore prepared than the guys that were hit, but after he was notified, President Roosevelt ordered him to retreat to Australia to plan a counter attack against the Japanese from the Philippines. Then he mobilized a new fleet of allied and American Naval Ships back to the Philippines to begin the fight. I don't know what you were trying to prove by that question.
