im getting a tad worried about my 13 year old son. he seems to be constantly hanging out with an older boy, around 18 i think. he is around the boys house everyday after school and i have caught him smoking once with the older boy...they seem to go everywere together.
it just seems a little odd that an older boy needs a younger kid to keep him company, should i be worried?

thanks in advance
jan

I definitely think that you should monitor what you son is doing with this older boy. I assume your son thinks he's cool because he has the approval of this high school kid. Maybe you should explain to him that quite possibly the only reason this older boy has your son as a friend, is because he has no friends his own age. If you explain this, its likely that your son will choose to keep different company from now on.

Older boys need a younger boy to blame it on. When your boy gets into trouble, he will be getting into 18 yr old trouble instead of the 13 yr old trouble he'd get into if he was hanging with guys his age. Put an end to it before it goes haywire.

Soooo, YES Be worried!

yes u should be worried cause this older boy could lead your son into trouble or danger. How do u know if this boy isn't in a gang and wants ur son to join. It is clear that ur son looks up to this 18 year old so u need to talk to ur son and tell him how u fee. Tell ur son to be careful of his actions and to do the right thing. GOOD LUCK!

When my nephew who I love as if he was one of my own was 13 he too started to hang out with 18 yr old kids, then 20 something yr old men. He went from smoking cigarettes to selling pot and smoking it. Be worried and try to get your son back on the right track

YES YOU SHOULD!
This is not normal and you've seen it for yourself that he's
not a positive role model if he's smoking along with him!!
But, You should talk to your son, to find out what's going on
but definetely don't let him hang out with this guy, he's nothing but trouble and your son will be in grave danger hanging out with him, so please, stop now before it's too late!!!

Bad bad news. Nip it now and be tactful.
Ive seen this too many times, with very similar scenarios.
Do it soon.
