you don't have to have them out till they are causing you trouble. some people swell up from taking them out, mine were no problem at all. You're not going to know till you do it.

Unless your wisdom teeth are impacted..they can stay in. They tend to get cavities because they are so far back in your mouth... and some people tend not to brush back there well enough and cavities occur. But sometimes swelling does occur when removed, but is usually temporary. The use of ice packs and tylenol will reduce this swelling. If the swelling lasts for more than 3 days..you must return to the dentist. Sometimes if a tooth is removed when there is an infection...it will swell more and present other health issues.

It will depend on your individual situation. If there is room for it to come in, there shouldn't be a problem. However, sometimes wisdom teeth will have a tendency to break through and may go back in the gum. So, even if there is room for it and does not need to come out for that reason, it may cause you other problems. I would say if it is not causing any pain or crowding, it is fine. If you are experiencing any problems, you need to make an appointment with your dentist and he/she can determine the best course of action for you. If you do have to have the tooth removed and you swell, it will only be for a short time. Unlike the swelling and pain you could experience if a problem tooth is not dealt with properly. Hopefully you won't have any problems with it at all, though! Best wishes to you!

Everyone does not have their wisdom teeth taken out. The dentist gives you an x-ray to determine how healthy your teeth are growing, and is your mouth crowded, and to see any other promblems that may possibly arise from having wisdom teeth. I'm 35, and I just had 3 of my wisdom teeth taken out six months ago. I was kind of scared, but nothing to fear...my dentist did an excellent job. There was no swelling at all. It's a possiblity that your friend had oral surgery. Everyone's body is different.

Another reason to have wisdom taken out is because they may come in rotten, it took my wisdom teeth almost 10 years to come up...and the roots were long.

Stop worrying...you may not even need your wisdom teeth pulled.

You are at the age where the wisdom teeth, or third molars, may become visible in your mouth. You don't HAVE to have them removed unless they become a problem or are causing problems. i.e. they are causing pain and swelling and becoming sore or they become badly decayed. If you have room for them then they normally leave them alone. If they are impacted then they do need to be removed even if you have no symptoms; they can cause problems with no symptoms that you may notice. The good thing, if they have to be removed, you only have one set of wisdom teeth, so you won't have to have it done more than once. If it was me I would have all of them removed at the same time. Some people have all four and others have 1,2 or 3 or even none.

you can't stop the swelling, your gonna swell anyways the best think to do for the pain is pain killers. Take note that ive already had my 3 wisdom teeth pulled out. Plus 4 more all at the same time.

Hope this helps...

Most likely, yes, you'll have to have the tooth pulled -- there's usually not enough room on the jaw for the tooth, even if it comes in perfectly.

A little swelling is normal, but it should go down within about a day; it does take some time for the area to heal completely. Pain-relievers such as ibuprofin or aleve should help.

I had to have four taken out at once! But, I followed the doctor's orders, and everything healed up fine.

It depends. If the tooth is causing you any pain or discomfort, you should get to the dentist and see what they say. It's not essential that you have it removed though.

You may find that sometimes it will actually "shrink back" below the gum line and just pop up and down at random - bit of a pain but nothing major.

If you *do* end up having it removed, you may well have some kind of swelling but it won't be longterm.

Your dentist would be the one to ask about getting your wisdom teeth. If she/he says to, I would recommend it. I delayed getting mine out for a few years and it pushed some of my teeth out of alignment. It may cause some swelling and pain, but in the long run it's the right thing to do.

You need a professional opinion. Sometimes the mouth doesn't have room for wisdom teeth and they will cause your other teeth to move, sometimes crooked. Some mouths can handle the wisdom tooth as far as space, but some dentist think they are a hazard because they are so far back in the mouth, they are hard to brush. Please check with a dentist.

people generally have their wisdom teeth removed in young adult hood, but you don't have to if it is not creating a problem for you or causing any pain. your dentist can look at x rays and see if these will push against any other teeth, and tell you if they should be removed now.
I would suppose that you face would swell up. and you'll probably bleed a lot. cheers
