Do you have concrete perches?
Is his cage too full to make him stay on the sides?
If not, I guess all you can do is trim his nails. They can cause him problems if you don't, more than getting caught in the carpet.
Since he's small, take a pair of toenail clippers and clip them, but watch for the pink section which is where the blood is.
Just in case you clip too far down, have some cornstarch or flour ready to stop the bleeding.
Or better yet take him to let someone else do it.
Most pet stores will do it.
I've never heard of a lindle parrot. What does it look like?

You may need to take him to a vet to trim his nails. They sound as if they are really long and depending on the type of nails the qwick may be hard to see. Get a sand perch maybe he will like one of those. Hard to be specific not knowing the type of bird, etc.

His feet need medical attention....Take your bird to an Avien Vet. They specialize in the care of birds.

If you don't know how to do it yourself, take it to a vet or pet store and get them trimmed. Have them show you how they do it and you'll be able to do it yourself next time. I trim my dogs, cats and some of my chickens nails all the time. It's pretty simple.

You can either get the sandpapered perches or take him to a pet store/vet to get them clipped if you are scared to do it yourself.
