Dogs love humans because of selective breeding. We deserve their love as long as we provide a better environment for them then they would have on their own.

At some point early humans ("cave men") developed hunting tools and were able to kill big animals, making them more effective hunters than the wolves that shared their territory. When the wolves came to steal the meat the humans would throw some to the wolves to keep them away. Eventually the wolves realized that they could hang out near humans and eat well without doing much hunting of their own.

If a wolf was aggressive the humans would kill it; if a wolf was friendly and cute the humans would throw it some meat. This process, repeated for a few hundred thousand (million?) years resulted in dogs that knew how to please humans.

It also resulted in humans that knew how to please dogs. Humans with pets were more likely to survive; dogs keep other preditors away and assist in hunting. The relationship goes both ways.

The questions of "deserving" love is a little more complicated. Without human influence there probably wouldn't be dogs as we know them; they would probably be more like wild wolves. And without dog influence humans would be different too. If dogs regularly killed humans it would be in our best interest as a species to kill dogs, or at least keep them away from us.

So, in a sense, humans and dogs created each other to love and be loved by each other. We can't help but love them, and they us.

Dogs evolved from wolves, as most people know. Wolves have a social order, as dogs do. A wolf (or dog) sucks up to higher ranks, to get on their good side. You're a higher rank. So the dog loves you to get some extra dog treats! I don't know about us deserving the love though. If it weren't for us, they wouldn't have to rely on us, their cousins wouldn't be practically dead, and they wouldn't be all abused or euthanized just for behavior like a lot of dogs are.

Dogs loves us because we care for them, we feed them and love them and make them part of our families. They deserve our love as much as we deserve theirs, having said that there are people who are poor caretakers or abuse their dogs. These people don't deserve to have a dog, or any pet for that matter, much less be loved by it.

When you hear that a dog is mans best friend you can bank on that. They are so lovable and loyal to their masters, they would give their lives for you in a minute. We do deserve their love if we treat them with the same love and attention that they give to us. I know that many people do not treat dogs, or animals , with the love and respect that they deserve. Even when we hurt them and mistreat them they are quick to forgive us, in most cases, and continue to be loyal to us. My dog, Jack, treats everybody with the same love and respect, even if he does not know you. He has brought so much love into this world, and he was abused by his original owner, so his mother secretly gave him to my daughter because she loved him so much and felt pity for him.....KECK

No-one deserves love, from a dog or a human.

We (humans and dogs) love irrespective of whether the other person might 'deserve' it.

It's unconditional.

dogs love us because they rule.

on a more serious note dogs are naturally loyal and playful much like a baby or a toddler. The more time they spend with you the more they will come to see that you are the one that will always take care of them, u will feed them, wash them, give them a warm place to sleep, and play with them. Dogs grow attached to their owners and there is even a saying that dogs are relections of their masters.

Overall we love dogs so they love us back.

My dog loves me because I give her the best food. I give her lots of love. I spoil her (with a fair amount of discipline). I take her lots of places. I buy her a lot of toys. I buy her bones. I don't abuse her. I treat her like a princess. Do I deserve her love? I think so. I don't think she would ever turn on me.

I don't know why they love us so much. I think we deserve whatever we give. If we show great love, we should get it in return. But, if we show neglect or abuse...I think that dog should jump right up and bite your arm off...lol

We offer them love, food, protection, shelter, full vetenary care and daily walks.

I thnk we deserve there love and respect.

It's the abusive owners who don't deserve there love but a dog has that ability to forgive.
