Actually that sounds like a pretty right state of mind to me. The truth is if you really want someone to honestly consider your religion the best way is to show why you might be right, instead of making them defensive and pointing out all the reasons why they are wrong.
I mean, it's really a pointless pursuit to go down the "let's prove everybody else wrong" path.

why should youn prove other peoples beliefs wrong? to me thats being a little smug and arrogant when i was younger i would love proving christians wrong but now i say let them believe as long as no one gets hurt do what you want

Of there isn't. Ideally, if everyone would have done that, there won't be so much excuse for conflicts. However, its always the case of 'mine can trump yours'. People think if they didn't aggressively push their faith's agenda enough, others in their religion would think them as not faithful or dedicated enough.
That's why some of the door to door evangelists gets on my nerves.
