Okay, this guy and i have been hanging out for about 8 months. About six months into it, we started talking about a relationship and it got physical (not all the way though). The problem is, we are in this "relationship" but neither of us have said "yes, we are going out." We hold hands, he stays over, etc. etc. plus I really like him a lot...it is a fairly serious relationship for not being officially a "relationship" Should I buy him a Christmas present or not. If I don't, what if he buys me something? I really want to but what if I show up with one and he doesn't...I just don't want an awkward situation to occur because everything is perfect right now.

Well, somebody has to make the first move!

If you want this to be a serious relationship, then you should buy him a gift. It doesn't matter whether he buys you one or not. If you give it to him and he hasn't bought one for you, he can always pretend he was going to take you out somewhere nice!

It sounds like you are both playing games with this relationship: your guy has a fragile ego and is scared to suggest getting serious, because he can't handle rejection. And you're sitting around waiting for him to make the first move, because you've been brought up to think the girl shouldn't take the initiative. So one of you has to get off the fence, and this is a good opportunity for you to do it.

You could always drop him a hint - for instance, if he suggests hanging out together one afternoon, you could say you have to go Christmas shopping and make it clear that he can't come with you. Or you could hurriedly hide a parcel when he comes in. That will give him a clue that you've bought him a gift so he might get one for you, too.

sure, buy him something but not expensive and not
personnal like jewlery, watches etc.
buy him something open ended for example a pair
of movie tickets or take him to dinner.,but once you make
it personnal it might make him feel uncomfortable.
don't ruin a good friendship

Get him something, but don't give it to him unless he gets you something unless you want him to feel like crap. If he doesn't get you anything then you know that you don't have a relationship and that you need to move on.

Just get him a gife and wait to see if he got you one or not to give him his gift and if he don't then just tell him not to worry about it because you didn't get him one either eventhough you did that way you'se will be even.

Just get him a gift and if he doesn't give you one then just say it's ok and that you just felt like getting him something.
