breaking up is more a permanent thing...well usually, and taking a break is when you two take a "vacation" from eachother w/ the intentions of getting back together soon. But be careful, some guys will use taking a break as an easy way of breaking up w/ someone.

'Taking a break' usually just involves staying away from each other for a while, whether it's a few hours or a few days. Breaking up is usually not talking anymore, unless you're close enough to talk after a break up. Then you're considered 'just friends' most of the time.

Taking a break is like "probation". You can decide to see other people, or just agree to not talk so much (or at all) for a while. Its a chance to breathe without the other person.
Breaking up is the end.

well with taking a break you have a chance thats about 10/20 so a 50 percent breaking up usually means that you did something that you shouldn't of and u have no chance

I'd say he is trying to let you down gently. He's finding it impossible to live with you because of the arguing, but he still loves you. So he doesn't want to hurt you, and he thinks by saying "let's take a break" it won't hurt so much as saying he wants to dump you.

break ups involve a large lack of "getting-back-togetherness" (just made that word up) and taking a break usually involves some form of "getting-back-togetherness" but if u guys fight so much maybe u should break up

most of the time there is no difference, but it can mean that your breakin up and not gonan go out with anyone else and just wait for the right time to get back together, but again most of the time it still means the same thing
