The amount of time in which nicotine stays in your system is also dependent upon the quantity, duration, and intensity of what you have been smoking. However, the effects of nicotine never leave your body completely.

The American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute report that nicotine from cigar/cigarettee smoking can increase a person’s risk of heart disease, emphysema, pulmonary bronchitis, and cancers of the lip, tongue, mouth, throat, larynx, lung, and esophagus. Most of the studies examining the long-term health effects have been conducted on regular cigar smokers (those who smoke daily). However, experts speculate that occasional cigar smoking would also put a person at higher risk for these health conditions. The main reason for this is the fact that cigars contain about 60 of the same toxins and carcinogens as do cigarettes, only in higher amounts. For example, the National Institutes of Health report that one cigar emits about 90 times the amount of nitrosamines as one cigarette. -

Some folks say 2 days for every year you smoked, others say a flat 2 weeks. When I stop I have the shakes, and desire to go back for nearly a month. Now 14 years later I still think about it with coffee, or after a good meal or when nervous. The best thing to do when that happens(for me) is to take a walk, or get busy doing something else to occupy your mind.

Nicotine will remain in the system for no more than 72 hours. Yep, three days, and it's gone. Still, quitting cigs is a bixch!!
