Vicodin is not codeine, but related, it's hydrocodone, a semi-synthetic morphine derivative combined with acetaminophen, the ingredient in Tylenol. Vicodin is either 5 or 7.5 mg of hydrocodone with 650 mg of acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is a narcotic, and can be habit forming, even physically addictive. As was mentioned above, it can actually cause headaches instead of curing one. You were smart to decline, though using it once wouldn't turn you into a raving junkie overnight. Some narcotics can have very adverse reactions in regards to causing seizures, another good reason for you to stay away unless prescribed and monitored closely the first few times of use.

when i have a really really really bad migraine for three solid days i have to go to the emergency room where they give me a tylenol drip to rid me of 60% migraine pain and then they give me a vicodin... they also give me a perscription for about 5 more to help when the tylenol wears off... vicodin works as a migraine reducer but you need to be careful because you can become addicted. if you have gone online and have found no interactions with your current medications, i would say take one vicodin. to be on the safe side, i would call a pharmacist to be 100% sure. best of luck with your headache....

ooo hard question. i am gonna suggest that you don't take it, especially if you've never taken it before. you could get in trouble for taking someone else's prescription medicine and if you do have a reaction, and end up at the hospital, they are gonna be like "where did you get vicoden!"... i personally would because i have taken plenty of pain killers before (had kidney stones multiple times, and other sports injuries and surgeries). But I think you should just take excedrin migraine or tylenol.

Vicodin is a narcotic that is restricted for a reason. (I was given vicodin after surgery) If you're on other drugs, it wouldn't be wise to mix them without permission of a doctor.
Excedrin is an excellent medication for head aches.
FYI, narcotics like vicodin are very hard on the digestive track as well.

I would check with a physician before I took that med with the others you take. Hydrocodone is a pain med. Not really for a headache.

Talk to your doctor before you take ANYTHING. I say this because a girl I went to high school with died from mixing medications. Don't take any chances with your health.
