I totally disagree with that leerburg website, i personally have a small pack of dogs (4) who are all very affecionate with me.

The secret is to be the alpha male(or female) aka the dominant one. What this does for you is puts you up as the pack leader which is the most respected and revered position in the pack. you become the popular guy who everyone follows.

You do this by walking the dogs together every day. These walks must be "structured" meaning that the dogs MUST walk behind you and obey your commands. Contrary to popular belief, the walk is not to let the "dog be a dog" it when you establish and daily restablish your dominance. After you doo this for a few weeks you will see a change and your dog will pay alot more attention to you.

Also, it is very healthy to raise dogs together in a pack, because they are pack animals and it is more natural. Again i totally disagree with that website posted earlier. If you want to learn alot about dog psycology check out Ceasar Millan and his dog phycology center.

Hope that helps,

You can't make her like you. It takes time for you and her to get used to each other! So don't worrie about it, just play with her as much as you can! You should sort of send her a message saying that you want to be her friend!
Trust me I have a dog and he hates to play fetch he doesn't chew up any stuffed animals and the only time he will run is when I take him outside so he can do his buissness! Good luck to you and your pup! :o)

What she is doing is normal. Give her time, and lots of love and petting. Get down on the floor and try to get both dogs to play with you. She came from a puppy mill. So many breeders like me wish we could put them out of business, but it will never happen. Atleast we can thank you for saving her.
The best way to do it is with routine. keep the same routine.

You have what they refer to as Doggy dogs. They rely on each other more than looking to you as the alpha. That's how it works when dogs are raised together instead of having their own seperate time with you.

You won't like what this website has to say, but you'll learn a lot: http://www.leerburg.com/2dogs.htm

It's never too late to create that bond with your pup. It'll just take time and patience on your part.

Spend a lot of one on one time with your dog. Pet her and give her treats. Make petting a positive thing. Play with her games like fetch are lots of fun. Don't encourage tug games as this can bring out aggressiveness. You must always be the one to feed her. Take her for lots of walks. Talk to her nicely while you are walking. Reward her for positive walks. She needs to associate you with good things, walks, food, treats...

I have found that walking with a dog one on one is the best way.
Take along treats and play with the dog.

Your dog will soon come to you and like you.

be kind and nice to her and show her that she can trust you. she may never find you more conferting than your other dog but at least she can trust you witch will pay off some day.
