He believes in God, he believes God is all-knowing, all-powerful, then why would he fight against Him? And how could he convince a third of the Angels to follow him?

Indeed. He must of thought he stood a chance or thought he was doing good. God always has a trick up his sleeve, though. There's no winning if you oppose him.

What is in it for the devil? He already knows what his fate is....what his destiny will be. He is a master manipulator...the master of deception. He is going to take as many souls with him as he can. That is his ultimate goal now. He is doomed anyway, so why not?

As far as why would 1/3 of the angels have followed him? Good question. Lucifer was the head of the angels. Angels, unlike men, do not have the gift of salvation offered through the blood of Christ. They will be cast into the everlasting lake of fire and have no means of redemption. Although I have not found any scriptural reference indicating that angels have "free will" they must have had some sort of self will as they obviously disobeyed God and followed Lucifer. Scripture does not reference what lead to the rebellion. But, there are motivational references, such as Isiah 14:14, where Satan states "I will be like the Most High."

"This was pride. The bishop, or pastor, is not to be "a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil" (1Timothy 3:6). The devil fell into condemnation because he was lifted up with pride. He refused to submit to the will of the Father, lost his first estate, and has taken many of the angels with him. His "tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth" (Revelation 12:4). "

I hope this helps you.

Satan was filled with pride, he thought that he was as powerful as God, and some of the other fallen angels went with him. Satan is not an ugly devil with horns and pitchfork, he is attractive and he is appealing to some. Once he made the decision to challenge God he was kicked out of Heaven. He got the angels to follow him the same way he gets some men to follow he attracts by filling man with pride.and places doubts in man about the goodness of God.

well, he is very ignorant for starters. islam says that when God created adam and eve, and commanded the devil (who was good at the time and was a believer) and the angels to bow to adam, all of the angels did (angels dont have a choice God didnt create them with free will, like us humans, they have to follow God's orders, so none of the angels went against God) but the devil refused, thinking why should i bow to adam, he is made of clay while i am made of fire, which is better than clay, so that caused him to be arrogant, leaving God's anger on him and the devil decided that he would try to lead us astray from God's path and drag us all to hell with him on the day of judgement, i hope i answered your question

excellent question.

Satan was a beautiful and an important angle of God before he became known as Satan the Devil. Because of his beauty, the bible states that Satan became very proud and arrogant. So much so that he was the first being in questioning God's authority to rule over Intellegent life. Satan became Jealous of how much worship God received and he wanted to be worshipped himself. He started questioning God's authority and arguing that it will be better if God would let intellegent beings make their own rules.
Many angels have taken sides with the Satan the Devil and many Humans too. History has showed us that without God's guidance we suffer. God had to step away and let humans and angels see that without God's laws life is full of pain and sorrow. God needed to step away to show all intellegent life that Satan was wrong in his accusations and that Satan is a liar and full of hatred and murder.

He wanted to be as powerful and knowing as God an equal but this was something God wouldn't tolerate. He and the angels who joined him in his belief that he could be Godlike were cast down.
Whats in it for the devil now...only complete failurism in his attempt.

He wanted to be like Him, and said He could be. He is the father of all lies, so that's how he decieved 1/3 of all angels into warring with God and His angels.

Maybe the Lord didn't reveal all His golry to the devil (well as much as we know of His glory to be). Or the Devil is the stupidest being ever to exist (besides they that follow him)
