Only thing to add for you is that the verb 'know' or 'to know' has two aspects.
There is to know something in the sense of having learnt something such as how to make a cake or to know certain information or facts such as a bus or train time table. In this situation the french verb to use is 'savoir' eg. Je sais conduire maintenant - I can drive now . ( Because you know / have the knowledge to do something )
The second sense or use of know is to know a person or place as for example I know John. In this sense of knowing something you use the french verb 'connaitre' ( there should be a ^ accent/ symbol in place of the dot of the i but my key board in this format won't let me do it ! ) e.g. Ni vu, ni connu - what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve for. or Tu connais mon ami ? - Do you know my friend. ( informal use of you ) or Vous connaissez mon ami ? ( formal & polite singular use of you )
