How do you find your family crest? I have asked my parents and they said they don't know it, and my grandparents don't know it. My Great grandparents are dead so i can't ask them. So how would i find it?

Not every family has an "official" crest. You might find a website saying that such-and-such crest goes with the Smith family; but that means a specific person named Smith was granted that crest by a king or queen and only his descendents have the right to claim it. If you can't prove you're related to that specific Smith, then it's not "your" crest, even if Smith is your last name. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from claiming it anyway, even if you can't prove it. Then again, there's also nothing stopping you from inventing your own crest and starting a new tradition.

It is on your dad's stationary and carved into the mantle of your country estate. If there isn't one there, your branch of the family doesn't have one.

"Family Crest" is a myth perpetuated by people who sell plaques and coffee mugs.
