The program itself is legal, but using it to download copyrighted material is not. It is like owning a gun is legal, but shooting someone with it is not.

The limewire program itself is quite legal. The peer to peer network it accesses is legal. What is illegal is using these legal devices to make copies of copyrighted material. So long as you don't do that, you're fine. Of course, as we all know, many, even perhaps most of the available files are not legal.

As above... P2P software itself is legal. If you use it to up/download copyrighted material, then those acts are illegal.

it is illegal but if u dont download bulk, and u dont make a profit off of it, dont worry
