Irreligious= someone who is simply not religious
Atheism= belief that there is no God
You can be irreligious and believe in God.

Irreligious is a adjective describing something or someone who has nothing to do with religion.

Atheist is a person who knows there are no gods.

You can be one, or the other, or both. An atheist might have a religion, if that religion doesn't involve any gods, and a person with no religion might still believe in a god.

Irreligious is the belief that God is irrelevant to daily living and not worth the effort of searching out hidden mysteries.
Atheism is the irreligious with an axe to grind.

Many atheists are far more religious than most Christians. Atheists affirm that there is no God and live accordingly. Pity they are mistaken.

Same thing - except I know that athiests love to proclaim that they are the smartest and no-one else can tell them otherwise.
