It is a fact of life that whatever a person allows to occupy his mind will sooner or later determine his speech and his action. This is the premise behind Philippians 4:8 and Colossians 3:2,5: establishing wholesome thought patterns. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says we "take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ." This is how we allow Jesus to be "the Lord of our lives". That gives us a pretty clear picture of the kind of music we SHOULDN'T listen to.

Yes, I am in this boat. It is clear what we need to do, but doing it is another thing, entirely. You are completely correct though- you can also see from your feedback that people are upset / disagree with your question, which means it is unpopular. It would be popular, if it were of this world, UnChristian, so kudos to you.
In my case, I like the music, but the words are idiotic. I am planning on selling my collection after I get an mp3 program to remove the lyrics.
You should listen to them, ask your question and leave it at that. Judging their behavior is fine, but judging them is a another thing- and the two are VERY close. Don't discount someone just because you know one of their faults.

Matthew 15:11-Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Listening to a secular song does not void the fact that the person is a man or woman of God. What they do or say is what would reveal weather or not their a true person of God.

They could listen to secular music till it comes out of their nose and butt; if their strong enough spiritualy, then the secular media will have little or no effect on them as long as they kee Christ in their heart and not the secular media.

Well, Christians all have their downfalls and their struggles. I will say that witnessing with secular stuff on in the back is probably not smart, but there's not really anything that says you can,t as far as i know. But, Christians can't live with their heads in the sand, they need to listen to secular stuff to know how to respond to people when they come to them with questions about that sort of stuff, and to adress that sort of stuff if it becomes a problem with the church or within a group of believers. Hope this helps!

Probably not, because true Christians shine in the light of God, they are Christ like. They act as though(to the best of their ability) Christ would act.

I find MOST, ( meaning NOT ALL before you readers out there get all worked up) Christians to be hypocritical and behave in ways that are not Christ-like, the worst of which is judging others, and threatening about hell everytime you disagree with them. I love true Christians though...it's the holier-than-thous I can do without.

Hell NO, first I would turn the RAP off, tell them to stop the car and let me out and tell that person to go to hell. Why would anyone listen to a christian talk about a god that will forgive cold blooded murders, rapist and so one and tell me that's part of his plan, like they know. When god can speak for him self to me I will surly listen

No it is absolutely wrong to engage in any form of sex while discussing God. Also it might be dangerous while listing to music and riding in a car. I believe giving head might be frowned on by God anyway. I think it is an abnormal form of pleasure myself. Hallelujah praise God.

I'm a Christian but I don't listen to that kind of music. It's not my "cuppa tea" I enjoy uplifting, praise and worship songs.

no. a true christian would not listen to those type of songs- only the songs that praise God!! everything you see, hear, and say is what you will become.

I'd listen because I would be in their (not there) car but I'd seriously question their commitment to the faith which would make me less likely to believe that they mean what they say. However, if it is God's word, I'd take heed (not head).
