More people speak in latin american. But in fact they are no that different. Just a little bit of pronunciation.

Your question is like asking,, which should I learn English or American. Do you see the different? Well, when you say Castillian, do you know what you mean by this. Castillians are from Castilla, a state in Spain and they speak Spanish, even though they are Castillians. Just as if you are from Texas, you claim that you speak Texan, but do you.? About Latin America there is no such language, it is called Spanish. Spanish no matter where you come from you will speak Spanish and every Spanish speaking person, no matter from where will understand you and you could communicate,. Good luck.. Buena suerte, amigo.

Actually, I would recommend to focus in Latin American Spanish, since you live in America, Spanish from Spain sounds whirl, freaky. Besides, we are more in population

Depends what you want to use it for. If you're actually going to talk to people, go study in a country. All people that are taught Spanish are taught Castellano. However, every dialect speaks something different. It varies from country to country, and region to region. In Spain, there are many different dialects, combining Spanish with Gaelic or French...

that's a hard question to answer because puerto rican spanish is different from mexican or venezuelan spanish in some ways. just little things though, like "queso" and "quesillo". i think you should learn latin american spanish, though. it covers more area & you could communicate with more of the world.
