I sleep 12 hours a day, I miss work and appointments. No matter what I do i cannot get out of bed. I have been going through this for 10 years or possibly more. I have tried sleeping pills to get myself on a "regular" schedule but that just dosen't seem to work. Does anyone have some good advice for me?

Have you had a physical? Have you told your doctor what's going on? It is not normal to need to sleep 12 hours a day and to disrupt your life because of it. You need medical attention.

I am a sleep expert and it sound like you have a sleeping disorder. If your sleeping 12 hours straight and still are tired, your sleep is being disrupted and your not getting enough REM or Delta sleep which is deep sleep.

Do you snore, do you wake up at night, do people say that you stop breathing or make sounds at night? You could have sleep apnea or another sleeping disorder. You should see a sleep specialist which can be found at a sleep lab near you. Ask your physician or look it up on the internet. Good luck!

Get yourself on a regular sleep pattern as once you start doing that you will feel much better. Also get some herbal tea as that helps you sleep really well.
