Walking at a good pace 30 minutes a day tones every muscle in your body. It helps maintain weight, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol and gives you a good cardio work-out. To tone your calves, stand on your toes for a count of 5, then rock back on your heels for another 5 seconds. Do this as often as you like, it is a simple exercise and you can do it any time of the day. It will give you that heart-shaped calf that a lot of guys find very sexy .

If you want to tone your muscles visibly then you need to lower your fat/sugar intake and do the exercises you listed because just doing the exercises alone can tone your muscles but the results won't likely be visible unless you have a very low fat percentage. Even professional body builders have to cycle between eating more calories than necesarry for their bodies, in order to have a visible six-pack and then eating more calories than necesarry in order to build muscle mass.
Some people say that the exhaustion of working out before bed helps them to sleep better, and it might help you to go to sleep quicker (much like alcohol) but as with alcohol it will upset your natural sleep rhythms by increasing your heartrate, breathing and many other bodily processes thus your sleep will be much less refreshing.
As for toning calve muscles, this is one of the best exercises that doesn't require a weight bench:
STEP 1: Stand next to a wall or chair for balance, with your feet shoulder-width apart.
STEP 2: Squat down with your knees bent about 30 degrees, so they are almost directly over your toes. Looking down, you should be able to see your toes.
STEP 3: Lift your heels off the ground smoothly and hold for 5 seconds. Return your heels to the ground.
STEP 4: Perform three to four sets of 15 to 20 repetitions every other day.
STEP 5: Stretch your calves when you're finished.

Best exercise i use for my calves is standing on something slightly elevated that is nice and sturdy. You can stand on the edge and do several sets of calve raises holding 5 lb weights adds an extra benefit...and good old jumping jacks really tone the legs too! It's fine to exercise before bed as long as it doesn't keep you up too late...sometimes it's hard to go to sleep after working out. ( ;

It's really good that you rest your muscles after you exercise and make sure to eat a lot of protein to keep your bone cells strong. I know something that you could do:
1. You get into a push up position.
2. You move to the left or right staying in that position. (Meaning you move but stay in the push up position and not in the exact same spot)
3. Do this at least every other day bcuz if you do it repeatedly or day after day then it could actually damage ur muscles.
*Note: This exercise exercises you're calves and upper arms.

FYI, you don't need to tell us that we'll get 10 points for a best answer...we all know that's how it works here on this site! :-)
Personally, I love working out in the evenings...I find it helps me to sleep better, just due to the physical exhaustion. On top of that, your muscles can heal better while you're sleeping, so it's a good opportunity to let them catch up.
The best thing you can do for your calves is to lift yourself up onto your tip-toes. Then let yourself back down...Then repeat multiple times.
To work on your tush, get on your hands & knees, then put one leg out straight behind you...Keeping it straight, squeeze your tush so that it pulls your heel toward the ceiling. Then let your leg go back into the straight position, and repeat (don't let your toes touch the floor...that's cheating!).
Also, to improve on your ab work...lay on the floor, with your hands underneath your tush. Put your legs up in the air, so that they're at a 90-degree angle to your body, with your ankles hooked together. From there, squeeze your lower abs so that your tush comes off the floor (it will be a small movement). Repeat this as many times as you would normally do crunches.
I also like leg-lifts...These will work both your inner and outer thighs. Lay on the floor, on your side, with one elbow on the floor, supporting your torso. Your hips should not be bent. Lift the top leg up to a 90 degree angle, then bring it back down...Repeat. I usually do 24 or 32 of those before I start feeling the burn. Then, while that leg is getting a little break, tilt your bottom leg out so that the top leg is no longer in the way, and lift the bottom leg up as high toward the ceiling as possible...lower and repeat. By the time you've done 60 or so of each of these, you'll certainly be feeling the work!
I also like "clean & jerks". If you don't have dumbells, you can use a book (or two), a pan from the kitchen, anything, really, that's easy to hold on to, and will give you a little added weight to lift. Put your weight on the floor. From a standing position, bend from the hips (not knees), and pick up the weight...In one smooth move, pull the weight up and lift it straight up over your head. Put it back onto the floor and do it again...This works not only your arms, in the lifting process, but also your tush, in the bending process.
There are a ton of different things you can do...sounds like you're aware of quite a few of them. The link below shows a few more.

Well a fun way to work out is dancing. Turn on some good fast music and dance for the length of the cd. also for calves the easiest thing is to bounce from your toes to flat feet, it'll hurt after a while, but it works, no pain, no gain.
God Bless!!

Use about a 20" piece of 2X4 and place it on the floor in front of you. Place the balls of your feet on the 2X4 with your heels on the floor. Lean slightly forward and raise your body as high as you can until you feel the action in your calf's. Do three reps of fifteen each
