just don't the more you keep her around the more it's gonna take for him to get over her, show him you're better than her, everything will be fine, don't worry

First of all, you are smart to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I would just keep making friendly gestures. Be genuine!! Say "hello" when you see her and ask her how she is doing. Invite her to participate in group stuff that may be a shared interest between the two of you (and I don't mean ganging up on your boy either). Be sympathetic to her cause, no matter what it is or how crazy it sounds.

I had this married guy who had the hots for me and his wife HATED ME. Why because he treated me like a queen and beat her up. They are still married, and she and I are more than civil. I just showed her that I was on her side of life, I too was a woman (and still in case people were wondering).

don't do it. you won't get points from him for being "open". as a matter of fact, it could put more of a strain on you both.
don't girlfriends talk about issues they are having with their boyfriends? of course you'd never talk to her, about him, but....who would know him better? maybe she'll "share" with you his faults as she sees them and as she sees fit...
he'll be worried about what you 2 are talking about and why you guys are so "close". then everybody will be spending too much time with somebody.
you're opening up a pandora's box. just be cordial. "hi" and "bye" works real swell...
